Seaview and Sparkle Wedding Fair at The Imperial Hotel, Torquay, Devon

Room setup for wedding breakfast

The Seaview and Sparkle wedding fair is a bi-annual event organised by By Invitation Events in at the Imperial Hotel in Torquay, Devon.  By Invitation Events are always popular with suppliers as they come with lunch, it’s so nice not to be worrying about packing sandwiches while stressing on every aspect of your stand.  The setting for this fair in Torquay is quite a venue.  From outside I don’t think anyone would claim it’s much to look at but inside, well just wow.  It has a sense, of grandeur, of history, luxury and most importantly given it’s location the coast and sea.   It’s function rooms and hotel rooms have magnificent views out over Torbay courtesy of the hotel’s location looking down on the bay.

I have some great coast and beach related designs for bespoke wedding invitations and stationery so was thrilled to be asked to attend her by Michelle from By Invitations.  Also on a nice day its great to be able to relax and take a walk around Torquay (or maybe run) once you are all packed away.

So see it as potentially good show for my bespoke wedding invitations and stationery.  These Photos are from the summer version in Sept 2016 and publish the Winter one’s from 2017 soon.  With the first ones being from the hotel.

Table Plans, Seating Charts and Welcome Signs!

Illustrated wedding table plan of Bridwell Park in Devon on canvas

I was going to call this article Table plans, table plans, table plans!  But actually want to talk about the big stuff I can make.  Well not so much talk but show the various big items I like to make on card and canvas.  Which is mostly table plans which may also be called seating charts and occasionally welcome signs which I think rock but are rarely a wedding essential.  I can also just print stuff big, which if you have a stunning photo from your wedding you think would look good blown up and on your wall is a great way to use it.

Currently there’s two places you can buy table plans.  Both allow you to tailor the designs to your wedding.  All in terms of layout, colours and style.  I created a table plan specific website as it’s often something that couples come to when planning their wedding, it may be overlooked or forgotten and with a month or two to go there’s suddenly a need for one.  You can see AS Wedding Table Plans here.

Table plans can also be bought through my main website Artemis Stationery.  There may be a slight difference between the two places as sometimes a design may make it onto one site before the other but prices are similar within a few pounds and the choices are the same.

Table plans may also become available on my ETSY store.  There’s not much here at the time of writing though.

I specialise in doing stretched canvas table plans.  These are fantastic items made with the idea they will be a piece of art made personally for you and that they’re something for you to keep and treasure.  Can also print onto card or paper.  These can then be put in your own frame.  Or I have antique style frames available in gold, silver, white and black finishes.  The gold ones can also be hired.  Alternatively the print can be mounted on mount board to make it rigid enough to stand up on an easel.

Want to talk about your options?  Give me a call or drop me an email.  07929 197963 and contact@artemisstationery.co.uk

The Remarkable Photobooth Co

A few words about the best photobooth in the South West.  For a start it’s not a booth which may in some circumstances disqualify it but if you want your guests to be able to have fun, make some memories and get funny photos to laugh about these are the best people.  Why?

  • They actually have an open setup, I believe this is better as it makes it much more of a talking point and a ice breaker.  A way to get the party started.
  • The Props are the best.  No cheap news year eve left overs or job lot from the fancy dress shop.  They have real top hats, real musical instruments, items with class and character, ok I am assuming the guns are toy guns!  But their props are a veritable treasure trove.
  • The backgrounds, they can provide new printed backgrounds to match the venue or event or use their blank screen to add a digital one.
  • The setup, I think the setup looks amazing.  From the cascading props to the white picket fence around the equipment it has charm and class not plastic walls.
  • The people, Matt and Tania are awesome and passionate about what they do.
  • Like all Photobooths they print there and then.
  • Watch the birdy! The bird on the camera, I just love all the details.

They travel through out the South West spreading their photobooth magic from their base in Devon to Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and beyond.

Rougemont Wedding Fair in Exeter, Devon

Casino Select

Rougemont wedding fair is an annual event organised by By Invitation Events in Exeter in Devon.  Always popular with suppliers as they come with lunch, less popular at this exact location as there’s not much space when 40 or so people turn up at the same time to drop off their stands but the building oozes class and history.  I think they play to the name to as there is a lot of red decoration around the place.  I love the high celings, greek columns, grand curtains and painting of their main room.  It’s a great space.  Last year it was one of my best wedding fairs so I saw as a bit of a must do so was there with my bespoke wedding invitations and stationery.

Decidedly Different Exeter Castle Vintage Wedding Fair

Exeter Castle lobby

2017 and saw the 4th version of this wedding fair.  Ridiculously popular with suppliers for it’s fair pricing and high values.  Being there is a bit of a badge of honour as the organisors Blue Fizz Events want the best suppliers not those with the most money so quality and talent is the order of the day.  And it’s as popular with Brides and Grooms.  The first fair when it was Saturday only on abysmal winter day saw over 500 people attend.  Since then it’s been a two day event regularly drawing over 500 people on each day.  So of course I was there with Artemis Stationery.

The side of the stand at the Exeter Castle wedding fair

From a suppliers point of view this is great, the nearest comparable show at the Bath and West charges over twice as much and has almost twice as many exhibitors.

Exeter Castle is in an event space just minutes’ walk from the city centre.  As such perfect to hit the shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and take in a wedding fair all in one easy trip.

The court-yard of the castle hosts the vehicles which this year included a rather cool gin bar and prosecco wagon.  I think I partook in the prosecco but the gin which I’d saved for day 2 didn’t seem such a great idea after the suppliers gathering which turned into quite a late night with one or two drinks on the quay side.  These were Bubbles and Bakes and Culinary Creative.  There was also a really great caterer Gourmet Street Kitchen selling gourmet mac and cheese which was as excellent as it looked.  The Prop Factory rounded off the outside with tonnes of decoration.

Pride of place and getting quite chilly in the lobby of the castle was the Remarkable Photobooth Co.  Matt and Tania are two of my favourite people.  They genuinely care about their clients and their business and always push themselves to excel with new and creative innovations and the best props.  They shared the space with Franki Capri.

Either side of the lobby are the terrace rooms.  Brilliant high ceiling rooms with great light.  I was in the corner of one of these rooms.  I shared mine with such awesome people as Lucy Wallace Photography and Maxi Photography.  Two awesome south Devon wedding photographers I always love catching up with.  Days of Grace and Rockbeare Manor were amongst the highlights and I was neighbours with Catkin blooms and Polka Jewellery.  I was also opposite Elizabeth Armitage Photography, I’ve not seen her since the first wedding fair at Exeter Castle and it was great to be reacquainted.

In the ballroom went I checked in I made a beeline for Kate and Posh Nosh.  Love their food so much and was gutted to learn that this year they were only displaying and not running a pop up café.  I did run away with lots of brownie samples though.  Posh Nosh were situated by the very talented Frances Carlisle Photography, I’ve only come across her a few times but the photos she took at Hillersdon House on a styled shoot I collaborated on were amazing.  The Event Studio did the makeup at that shoot and were styling brides and models in one of the corners.  The ever popular Swing Kings provided the entertainment.

Dillington House Illustrated Wedding Stationery

Dillington House framed wedding table plan

Dillington House I think could very well be my favourite local wedding venue, well I say local it’s about 30 minutes from me.  The House itself is amazing and historic and as you might expect for one I’ve illustrated I think as pretty as a picture especially when the sun shines on its ham stone walls.  Then there’s the immaculately maintained grounds and gardens complete with water fountains.  Inside it’s special to, a real sense of history and unlike a lot of historic venues there’s no sense of neglect inside or out.  It also has some of the most comfortable looking chairs for your wedding guests I’ve ever seen at a wedding venue.

Dillington House framed wedding table plan
Dillington House framed wedding table plan

The House itself is not alone and there are other buildings onsite including the stable blocks which can also host weddings.  It’s a popular conference venue and as such is very professionally run and maintained.  I regularly do a week day wedding fair and at the end of the day it’s a pleasure to walk through the grounds and gardens to fetch my car for loading.  It looks beautiful when all lit up.

Dillington House Somerset
Dillington House Somerset

I follow them on facebook too and the food looks spectacular.  I think the House acts as restaurant and it’s definitely on my to do list to check this out.

Like all of my other stationery collections these illustrations can still be tailored to you.  From the colour of the sky to the time of year the design reflects and the style of the writing.  Previous clients have also added pets, themselves, personalised design elements and bunting into the designs.  While things like cars and hot air balloons could also be included.  The particular design brings in inspiration from the deer wandering the grounds with a sketched stag head in the central panel.

Dillington House Somerset
Dillington House Somerset

My venue illustrations can be used on anything from Save the Dates and Invitations to the Day Stationery and Thank You cards.  One of my favourite items is the canvas table plan.  It looks great on the day and makes a brilliant keepsake and as such comes with fixings to be hung and is printed to a fine art reproduction level onto a quality canvas and stretched around quality pine frames.

I think the best invitation type when it comes to the illustrated invites is the large bifold.  A5 in size when folded it has plenty of space to show off the artwork.  It features internal panels glued onto the cover which gives it a real feeling of quality.  I think they make a great impression on your guests.  I can make them to two levels.  The first I use a specialist trade printer to do the printing and cutting.  They’re then hand assembled.  This keeps the cost down and offers different choices of card such as those with metallic or pearlescent effects.  The other level is for those who want something really special for their guests.  I print them in house onto a card typically used for fine art reproduction with a printer typically used for that purpose and high quality photographic prints.  Then each piece is individually cut and then they’re hand assembled.  Either way guest name printing is included and they’re effectively little works of art individually made for each guest.
